# About Carlos Rivera

Carlos Rivera is an AI systems architect, technical founder, and former CTO with more than 18 years of experience taking complex software architectures from zero to production across Latin America, the United States, and the Middle East. His work spans autonomous agent runtime infrastructure, Model Context Protocol (MCP) developer tooling, distributed systems, and hands-on engineering leadership.

## Engineering Track Record & Companies Built

- **Early Systems & Research**: Started programming at age 14 by building 3D game engines from scratch. At 18, wrote C++ flight control software for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at Hydra Technologies, followed by software engineering stints at **Microsoft** and **HP Labs**.
- **Synx (Founder & CEO)**: Founded and scaled an enterprise AI and software engineering consultancy from zero. Architected and shipped core production systems for **BBVA**, **Etihad Airways**, and **Grupo Bimbo** across three countries, and was selected by Etihad Aviation Group and UAE Exchange for startAD's inaugural AI Venture Launchpad at NYU Abu Dhabi.
- **Figuro (Co-Founder & CTO)**: Built the core policy engine and direct carrier integration layer across Latin America, scaling the digital insurtech platform to **$2.5M+ in written premiums within 18 months** and earning recognition at the 2024 AIP Awards.
- **Meshi (Agent Infrastructure)**: Led engineering for the AI-driven member matchmaking platform that replaced manual spreadsheet operations with automated agent workflows.

## Developer Tools, Open Source & MCP Products

- **[MCPWire](https://mcpwire.co)** (`@mcpwire/cli`, [github.com/mcpwire](https://github.com/mcpwire)): Encrypted peer-to-peer (P2P) proxy and CLI for Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers, enabling developers and agents to share local tools across machines without opening firewall ports or exposing private API credentials.
- **[Panas](https://panas.mcpwire.co)**: Peer-to-peer compute and inference market built on MCP, pairing cryptographic budget grants and Solana USDC settlement with air-gapped two-container Docker worker sandboxes. Awarded 2nd place at the Codex Community Hackathon in Guadalajara.
- **[Folio](https://carlosrivera.github.io/folio/)** ([github.com/carlosrivera/folio](https://github.com/carlosrivera/folio)): Markdown-to-PDF document publisher built with Typst, Rust, and WebAssembly featuring true physical pagination, vector KaTeX math, and an integrated MCP server for automated document generation and linting.
- **[Ocelo](https://ocelo.app)**: Native macOS screen recorder built with Swift, ScreenCaptureKit, and Metal that transforms raw recordings into studio-grade product demos.
- **[Belio](https://usebelio.com)**: iOS technical English coach built on Swift, LiveKit, Whisper, and CoreAudio for rehearsing engineering standups and architecture interviews out loud.
- **[bicio](https://bicio.cool)**: Native iOS commuter companion for Guadalajara's MiBici bike-share network using SwiftUI, CoreLocation, and CloudKit.
