Folio: From Markdown to a Presentable PDF
2 min read
Technical documents don’t start in a word processor anymore. They start in Markdown, inside an agent or a working session: architectures, proposals, analyses, reports. The problem arrives at the very end, when that text has to become a presentable PDF and the only way out is copying and pasting into a tool designed for another era, fighting overflowing tables, broken code blocks, and formulas exported as blurry screenshots.
Folio closes that gap.
What It Does
True pagination. The document is laid out in finished physical pages from the start: you see where a table breaks and where an orphaned heading lands before ever hitting export. No infinite scroll surprising you in the final PDF.
Real-time Markdown. Type or paste Markdown and the document builds instantly, with editorial typography and themes applied without configuration.
Native math and diagrams. Formulas rendered with KaTeX in vector format (tack-sharp at any zoom or print) and flowcharts drawn directly, without screenshots.
One-click PDF export. What you see on the page is what lands in the file.
For Agents, Not Just Humans
Folio includes an MCP server that turns the document into something an agent can operate: defining metadata, applying typographic themes, auditing broken links, and exporting the final PDF without human intervention. If the analysis was done by an agent, the delivery can be done by the agent.
Who It’s For
- Technical founders and consultants delivering proposals and executive reports.
- Engineering teams documenting decisions and architectures.
- Anyone working in Markdown who needs to present outside of Markdown.
